McDonald's 2026 holiday drinks: the calories, as best anyone can tell today

Short answer: McDonald's hasn't published the numbers yet. Here's the honest range for each new drink, based on McDonald's own calories for the drinks they are built on.

Logma logs a meal in 3 seconds. Say it or type it, it counts it. 3 days free on the yearly plan.

McDonald's rolled out its 2026 holiday drink lineup on November 3, and as of launch day it has not published calorie counts for any of them. So here is the honest version: based on McDonald's own numbers for the drinks these are built on, plan on roughly 420 to 650 calories for a Cookie Butter Frappe depending on size, about 200 to 350 for a Cookie Butter Latte, and somewhere around 250 to 350 for a medium Frosted Cranberry Splash once you count the cold foam and sprinkles.

Those are estimates, and I'll show you exactly where each one comes from so you can see the math instead of trusting a round number. When McDonald's posts the official figures, the frappe will still be the heavy one and the Red Bull Zero version will still be the lightest. That part does not change.

Quick note on who's writing this: I'm Batu, and I build Logma, a voice calorie tracker for iPhone. A holiday drink is exactly the kind of thing a photo app guesses wrong, so I care about this more than most. Every number below is tied to a source at the bottom.

What's actually on the 2026 holiday menu

McDonald's holiday drinks landed on November 3, 2026, at participating US locations. There are two flavor families.

  • Frosted Cranberry Splash with Sprite. Sprite with orange and cranberry flavors, topped with cold foam and cranberry sprinkles. It's caffeine free.
  • Red Bull Frosted Cranberry Energizer. The same cranberry idea built on Red Bull, in classic or Red Bull Zero, with cold foam and sprinkles on top.
  • Cookie Butter Frappe. A blended frappe with cookie butter flavor, caramel cookie crumbs and vanilla whipped topping.
  • Cookie Butter Latte. The same cookie butter and vanilla whipped topping, as a McCafe latte.
  • Cookie Butter Iced Coffee. Cookie butter flavor over iced coffee, again with the crumbs and whipped topping.

McDonald's also put an $8 Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal deal on the board the day before, on November 2, with medium fries and a drink at participating spots. Prices on the holiday drinks vary by restaurant and were not published at launch.

The honest calorie estimates, and where they come from

Here is the part most roundups skip. Nobody has the official numbers yet, so the only honest move is to anchor each new drink to the McDonald's drink it's clearly built on, then add for the toppings. These are McDonald's own posted figures.

New holiday drink Built on (McDonald's posted calories) Honest estimate
Cookie Butter Frappe Caramel Frappe: 420 small, 490 medium, 650 large about 420 to 650, by size
Cookie Butter Latte Iced Caramel Latte, medium: 220 roughly 200 to 350 once you add the whipped topping
Cookie Butter Iced Coffee Cookie Butter Cream Cold Brew, medium: 160 roughly 150 to 280 by size
Frosted Cranberry Splash Medium Sprite: 210 roughly 250 to 350 with cold foam and sprinkles
Red Bull Frosted Cranberry Energizer Red Bull base plus cold foam the Zero base is the lighter pick, more below

Treat these as a planning range, not gospel. The size you pick moves the number more than the flavor does, and McDonald's cold foam and whipped topping are where the quiet calories hide. When the official counts go up on the McDonald's site, come back and swap in the real figure.

Why the Cookie Butter Frappe is the big one

A frappe is a milkshake wearing a coffee hat. McDonald's blends it with a frozen coffee base, flavor syrup and cream, then crowns it with whipped topping. Their regular Caramel Frappe runs 420 calories in a small, 490 in a medium and 650 in a large. The small alone carries 53 grams of total sugar, which is close to 90 percent of the daily limit the FDA uses on a 2,000 calorie diet.

The Cookie Butter Frappe adds caramel cookie crumbs on top of that, so if anything it leans a touch higher than the caramel version, not lower. If you want the holiday flavor without turning a drink into a third of your day, the small is the move, and asking for no whipped topping quietly knocks off calories and sugar before you even taste it.

The cranberry drinks look lighter, but watch the base

The Frosted Cranberry Splash starts with Sprite. A medium Sprite at McDonald's is about 210 calories and 54 grams of sugar, all from the soda itself. The cold foam and cranberry sprinkles push it up from there, so a medium likely lands somewhere in the 250 to 350 range. It's lighter than the frappe, but it's still a sugar drink, not a freebie.

The Red Bull Frosted Cranberry Energizer is the one with real spread between versions. Built on classic Red Bull you're paying for the energy drink's own sugar plus the foam. Built on Red Bull Zero, the base is close to nothing and almost all the calories come from the cold foam and sprinkles on top. If you're watching the number, the Zero build is the clear winner here, and it's the one place on this menu where the lighter choice is genuinely light.

How to log a holiday drink McDonald's hasn't posted yet

This is the real problem with a brand new seasonal drink. There's no official number, the app databases are full of guesses and random user entries, and a photo app just sees a cup with foam on top. It can't tell cookie butter frappe from plain iced coffee, and it definitely can't see the whipped topping once you've had two sips.

The way I handle it is to say what it actually was and let the number follow the description. In Logma you tap the mic and talk:

"A medium Cookie Butter Frappe from McDonald's with the whipped topping."

Logma logs the calories and macros in about 3 seconds, and because you named the size and the topping, the estimate tracks your real drink instead of some stranger's. If you skipped the whipped topping or sized down, say that too. You can type the same sentence if you'd rather not talk. There's no account and your log stays on your phone. This is the same gap I wrote about in voice versus photo calorie apps: a camera is fast, but it can't read what's dissolved into a drink.

Easy swaps that cut the number

None of this means skipping the drink. It means spending the calories on purpose. A few swaps that actually move the needle:

  • Size down. On the frappe, a small instead of a large saves you more than 200 calories for the same flavor.
  • Skip the whipped topping. It's the cheapest cut on the menu and you lose none of the cookie butter.
  • Pick the Zero base on the Red Bull Energizer if the number matters that day.
  • Make it the treat, not the add on. A holiday frappe plus a full meal is a lot of sugar in one sitting. If the drink is the point, keep the food around it simple.

If you're not sure what your day can actually fit, the free calorie calculator gives you a daily target to spend against, and a 500 calorie drink reads very differently against 1,600 than against 2,400.

Where this fits if you're tracking through the holidays

Seasonal drinks are a trap mostly because they're easy to forget. You log the burger and the fries and the 500 calorie frappe slips through, because it felt like a drink and not a meal. Over a few weeks of holiday runs that adds up to a real gap between what you logged and what you ate.

So log the drink first, before the food, while you still remember the size and the topping. If you want the wider holiday playbook, the same thinking runs through our Starbucks holiday drinks breakdown, and if you just want a McDonald's meal counted honestly, the Big Arch calorie post walks through a full order. For the apps themselves, the 2026 calorie tracker comparison covers who does drinks well and who doesn't.

FAQ

How many calories are in the McDonald's Cookie Butter Frappe?

McDonald's hasn't published the official number yet. Based on its regular Caramel Frappe, which is the same kind of blended drink, expect roughly 420 calories for a small, about 490 for a medium and around 650 for a large, possibly a touch more since the Cookie Butter version adds caramel cookie crumbs on top.

When did McDonald's 2026 holiday drinks come out?

The holiday drinks launched on November 3, 2026, at participating US locations. McDonald's also started an $8 Quarter Pounder with Cheese meal deal on November 2.

Which McDonald's holiday drink has the fewest calories?

The Red Bull Frosted Cranberry Energizer made with Red Bull Zero is the lightest, because the base is close to zero calories and almost everything comes from the cold foam and sprinkles on top. The Cookie Butter Frappe is the heaviest.

Is the Frosted Cranberry Splash caffeine free?

Yes. The Frosted Cranberry Splash is built on Sprite, so it has no caffeine. The Red Bull Energizer and the cookie butter coffee drinks do contain caffeine.

How do I track a drink McDonald's hasn't posted calories for?

Describe it instead of searching for it. In Logma you say or type the drink with its size and toppings, like a medium Cookie Butter Frappe with whipped topping, and it logs the calories and macros in about 3 seconds. That beats a photo app, which can't see what's blended or foamed into a cup.
